So glad to have found Richard and team for our build!
Richard Saunders was involved in the complete reconstruction of the timber roof structure (including the addition of 3 dormers) and loft conversion of our period property.  His work was of an extremely high standard and we cannot fault his knowledge and expertise.  Brilliant communication on all levels, checking in with us throughout the build and super attention to detail.  Richard was always one step ahead, foreseeing any issues and addressing our needs speedily and efficiently.  He took time to understand our vision which made the job all the more enjoyable.  He has a brilliant team who were very polite, punctual, highly skilled and tidied up well!

Richard and team did a great job with a remodel/refurbishment including a new bathroom. Communication was efficient and prompt, we had some bumps along the way (to be expected sometimes on large jobs) which were resolved quickly and professionally. Rich built an extension for us and converted our garage into an office.  His project management was great, getting all the different trades lined up with very little down time. We employed Rich to modernise our recently purchased home - mainly plastering and decorating but also some gas work and a fireplace removed. Almost all of the work was carried out by the decorator and plasterer while we were living in the house, who worked around us without complaint. Richard has just finished a 3 month project to extend the kitchen and replace flooring, doors, lights throughout the house. I can't recommend Richard highly enough. The work is an excellent standard, he has been a pleasure to work with, he was responsive to multiple questions/tweaks, and he (and his team) were considerate to me and family at all times. I have no hesitation in recommending Rich after he turned our 3 bedroom house into a 4 bed. He was super responsive throughout, professional, tidy, stuck to a tight schedule, accommodating of a dozen additional requests and a great problem solver. So incredibly impressed with the work Rich has carried out on our 19th century cottage.  We had originally been told that in order to carry out the work we wanted we would have to lose our en suite bathroom.  Several other builders had seen the drawings and simply quoted on the job.  When we met with Rich however, he was determined to find a way to still carry out the work needed but keeping the en suite. He worked hard to come up with a great solution to our dilemma, bringing in another architect for a second opinion and bingo! It worked!  And we are SO grateful. Not only that but he looked for ways to make sure we kept within our budget and timeframe and has maintained all the character that we love. No mean feat!  He is always very quick to respond to any questions, no matter how small, and is always so personable.  Thank you Rich, we could not be happier! Rich Saunders did a single story monopitch extension to our dining room at the back of our house. Before quoting, he came around and took measurements and looked at our architects drawings providing a professional written quote in the timeframe he promised. This was a pleasant contrast with several other local builders who didn't even show up when they said they would or those who did (eventually) show who had to be chased down to provide quotes. So refreshing!

The work began when planned and was completed in the timeframe originally quoted for. None of that getting to 70% complete and then no builder to be seen for days at a time (because they've started another job elsewhere!) with Rich and his crew.

Inevitable with a build onto an older house, there were some issues arising as the build progressed. However, Rich was always quick to point out where he could foresee where we might have a problem (e.g. deeper foundations, concrete lintel where it might have been missing from the original build) and keeping us updated throughout the build. Other problems that cropped up (e.g. faulty Velux) were acknowledged, investigated and simply put right in due course.

Build was on time and on budget. Rich is a great guy and always goes out of his way to ensure you are happy at each stage of the build. Most importantly, when there are problems that will always crop up - he will tell you, explain why, what can be done about it and the approximate cost (if there is one). I would not hesitate to recommend Rich or hesitate to use him again.

Finally, a note to the "don't show up, stall at 70% of a build, hide problems rather than own them, don't engage with the client, take 50% longer than quoted and have final costs 50% more than quoted" brigade - Rich is a new type of builder and a serious threat to your breed!
